Acceleration is an instructional strategy that involves teaching content at an advanced pace, often at least one grade level ahead of the standard curriculum. Accelerated Mathematics is designed for gifted and talented students who demonstrate exceptional mathematical understanding, problem-solving abilities, and reasoning skills. Eligible students typically grasp concepts quickly, recognize patterns, and make connections across disciplines and mathematical operations. They progress through critical objectives, aligned with the Common Core State Standards, at an accelerated rate.
